Waypoint Travel is in preview. Prices are estimates or clearly labelled practice/provider data; reservations, ticketing and payments are not available yet. What works today

Our promises

What goes wrong elsewhere, and our rule instead

We read what travellers actually say about the big booking sites — tens of thousands of reviews, consumer-group investigations and regulator findings. The complaints repeat. Below is each one, and the rule we hold ourselves to, including where we are not there yet. A promise with an honest status is worth more than a slogan.

What travellers like, and we keep

Cancellation terms in plain words

Provider-returned rules are shown when supplied. Demonstration options label their assumptions and unknown terms rather than presenting them as confirmed.

Search you can actually steer

Filter and sort by cost, speed, number of changes, comfort and calm connections, with a map view when it helps.

One place for the whole trip

Flights, trains, ferries, stays, cars, transfers and the days in between — planned door to door, not leg by leg.

Reviews only from real travellers

A review can only be written by someone whose trip we arranged. We do not write them, buy them, edit them or reward them.

No booking fee and no card fee

Our current preview shows a $0 booking fee and $0 service fee. Supplier charges are confirmed from live terms before payment becomes available.

Your trip in your hand

Install it to your phone's home screen and see every leg in order. Automatic airline-change alerts are built but depend on live bookings and provider feeds.

What travellers complain about, and what we do instead

"Only 1 room left!" messages that count one obscure room type while the hotel still has dozens free — a tactic regulators forced the big sites to drop, and independent testers found still running afterwards.

In place today

We show no scarcity message at all unless it reflects everything genuinely sellable at that property for your dates. No countdown timers, no 'someone else is looking at this', no manufactured rush.

Taxes, resort fees, cleaning charges and card fees appearing at the last step, after you have already decided.

In place today

The first price you see is the whole-trip total including taxes and fees, and it is the price we lock for payment. Our fees are $0 and shown as $0.

Struck-out 'was' prices and 'up to 30% off' claims that almost never apply to the trip in front of you.

In place today

No struck-out prices and no 'up to' claims. If a discount applies to your dates, you see the real amount in money, worked out for your trip.

Urgent problems funnelled into a chatbot loop with no way to reach a person, and contradictory answers between agents.

Partly in place

Anything time-critical — arriving today, locked out, unsafe, a cancelled flight — reaches a human, and we publish how long that takes on our scorecard rather than asserting it.

Arriving to a property that is overbooked, inaccessible or unsafe, and being left to find and fund somewhere else yourself.

Committed, not yet built

If a stay we arranged cannot take you in, finding you a comparable bed the same night is our job, and the difference in price is ours to carry — not a goodwill gesture you have to argue for.

Refunds that never arrive, with the traveller left brokering between the platform and the property.

Committed, not yet built

Where a failure is verified — property does not exist, no access, cancelled by the supplier — we refund you and we chase the supplier afterwards. You are never the go-between.

Photographs years out of date and long-running complaints that never surface on the listing.

Partly in place

Illustrative pictures are labelled as illustrative, destination photos say they are of the destination, and we will show a property's photo age rather than pass off an old picture as today.

Listings accepting payment before anyone checks the host is real — testers had a fake address taking money within minutes.

Committed, not yet built

No property can take money through us before the owner and the address are verified. Verification comes first, listing second.

Scam messages and payment links that appear to come from the booking site itself.

In place today

We never ask for payment by message, link or phone, and we never ask for card details outside the payment page. Any message claiming otherwise is not from us.

A currency conversion quietly marked up on the way through.

In place today

Prices convert at a reference rate we publish and date, we tell you it is indicative, and you can always see the supplier's own currency and pay in it.

Results ordered partly by what the property pays the platform, with paid placement hard to tell apart.

In place today

Order comes from the journey calculation alone. Money cannot buy a position in your results. Any paid panel sits outside the list and says 'Paid placement'.

Breaches disclosed weeks late, and one compromised hotel login exposing other travellers' details.

In place today

We do not store passport or ID document numbers at all, we tell affected travellers within 72 hours of confirming a breach, and suppliers never get access to other travellers' records.

Hold us to it

Promises should be measured, not asserted. Our scorecard shows verified operating counts only when there is enough activity to make them meaningful; until then it shows an honest empty state. How we are paid is written out in full too, because a promise about price is only credible if you can see who pays us.
